Six Feet Under Season 3 Episode Guide

Perfect Circles
Nate experiences alternate realities while undergoing surgery. Now Federico is a partner, he won't be bossed around any more; Keith isn't happy about attending counseling with David; Claire falls for crematorium worker Phil (JP Pitoc); Lisa finds it hard dealing with her quirky boss Carol (Catherine O'Hara); and Ruth is besotted with granddaughter Maya.


You Never Know
When the company deals with the results of a shooting spree by a disgruntled ex-employee of a telemarketing firm, there's a row between Federico and David. Meanwhile, Ruth visits her sister Sarah (Patricia Clarkson) and is helped through a crisis by her sister's friend Bettina (Kathy Bates); Keith goes to therapy alone; and Claire finds a soul mate in fellow student Russell (Ben Foster).


The Eye Inside
Ruth goes shopping with Bettina; Lisa quits her job and home; Claire is praised by new art teacher Olivier Castro-Staal (Peter Macdissi); Nate has doubts about marriage; and David is uncomfortable on a resort vacation with Keith.


Nobody Sleeps
Ruth lets her hair down, encouraged by Bettina, at a birthday party planned by Lisa. Meanwhile, a gay man wants an operatic funeral for his partner; Nate is having bizarre dreams; and Claire receives harsh lessons from a caustic, artist (Evan Handler), along with flirtatious behavior from Olivier and a confession from Russell.


The Trap
At chorus rehearsal, David meets a man who claims they had sex in a department store; Olivier wants Claire to be his assistant; Nate and Lisa row over money and Brenda; Keith loses his temper; and Federico suggests the firm takes on an unpaid, live-in intern.


Making Love Work
Federico has a tough task with a large body; Nate and Lisa go on a camping trip with baby Maya; Claire consoles Russell after his work is criticized by Olivier; and apprentice Arthur Martin (Rainn Wilson) impresses Ruth by using a handkerchief.


Timing & Space
Brenda's father dies and Nate wants to attend the funeral; Vanessa's mood swings upset Federico; Russell gives Claire a gift; Keith is upset at a camp brunch with David's chorus members; and Ruth stalks Arthur.


Tears, Bones and Desire
The firm arranges the funeral of Daddy, head of a bizarre, communal family known as The People; Keith enjoys a competitive game of paintball against David's camp friends; Lisa meets Brenda by arranging a massage under an assumed name; Claire discovers Olivier is bisexual; and Ruth can't stop kissing Arthur.


The Opening
Nate and Lisa bump into Brenda at Claire's art school show and then come to a major decision; Federico worries about Vanessa's behavior; Arthur wants limits on his relationship with Ruth; and David and Keith continue to indulge in threesomes.


Everyone Leaves
David goes with Keith to the funeral of his great aunt and is caught in a family conflict; Claire explodes when Russell tells her about his relationship with Oliver; Arthur worries about mixing his laundry with Ruth's; Nate looks after baby Maya when Lisa goes away; Billy tries to kiss Brenda and she turns to Nate; and Federico is pleased that Vanessa's mood has improved until he realizes why.


Death Works Overtime
The funeral home is busy so Arthur has to deal with some of the customers. Meanwhile, Nate frantically tries to find Lisa; Ruth gets comfort from stranger George Sibley (James Cromwell); Vanessa upsets Federico with her extravagance; Brenda and Billy fight as they scatter their father's ashes; and Claire discovers she's pregnant.


Twilight
Ruth rushes her romance with George; David is unfaithful to Keith; Claire decides to get an abortion; and Nate is overcome with worry about Lisa's disappearance.


I'm Sorry, I'm Lost
There's a mixed reaction when Ruth and George announce their marriage. Meanwhile, Nate is drinking and neglecting Maya, and he turns to Brenda again; frustrated Federico has fun at a strip club; and Claire has a trip to the afterlife with her dead father.
